U.S. Veteran

Rosary services for Mack Macias, 88, of Canadian, TX will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Bala Showreddy, Officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX.

Mr. Macias passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 in Canadian, TX.

Mack was born February 29, 1924 in Canadian, TX to the late Mr. Pedro Macias and Mrs. Juvintina (Ramirez) Macias. He attended schools in Canadian, TX. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He married Juanita Parra on December 2, 1950 in Canadian, TX. Mack worked as a carpenter and later as a farmer from 1954 until retiring in 2006. He served as a past board member in Hemphill County on the Soil and Water Conservation and the PCA. He also served on the ASCS board in Sherman County. He served on the school board for the Briscoe ISD and past secretary for Blue Ridge School. Mack served on the Parish Council at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Stratford. He helped build the original Parish Hall at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Canadian where he was also a member. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Oscar, A.R. Bill and Newt Macias and Andrew Altamira; four sisters, Mary Ortega, Albina Ramirez, Ruth Rodriguez and Cesaria Macias.

Mack is survived by his wife, Juanita Macias of Canadian, TX; two sons, Stanley Macias and wife Cara Dawn of Canadian, TX; Christopher Macias of Amarillo, TX; two daughters, Barbara Kaul and husband Mark of Dalhart, TX; Yolanda Capetillo of Amarillo, TX; two brothers, Alex Macias of Guymon, OK; Justo Macias of Canadian, TX; four sisters, Jane Macias of Perryton, TX; Evelyn Hernandez of Pampa, TX; Tillie Macias of Oxnard, CA; Sally Velasquez of Sacramento, CA; 8 grandchildren, Garrett Macias and wife Rebecca of Wiley, TX; Amber Davidson and husband Daniel of Colorado Springs, CO; Eric Macias of Slaton, TX; Michael Kaul of Minneapolis, MN; Ian Macias and wife Leslie of Amarillo, TX; Nancy Capetillo of San Antonio, TX; Jordan Kaul of Fort Worth, TX; Travis Macias and wife Ashton of Canyon, TX; and one great-granddaughter, Kylie Macias of Wiley, TX.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S 4th St., Canadian, TX 79014 or Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund, 804 East Kingman, Canadian, TX 79014.
