Mary Elizabeth Hughes, 70, of Canadian, TX passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 no services are scheduled. Cremation is under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX.

Mary was born April 24, 1941 in Scipio, OK to the late Mr. Olin Sirmans and Mrs. Gladys Ruth (Burton) Sirmans. She was a 1957 graduate of McAlester High School. She moved to Canadian in 1978 from Hurst, TX. Mary worked as a supervisor in the kitchen department for the Edward Abraham Memorial Home. She was also a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Bill Sirmans, one sister, Ann Sutton, one granddaughter, one niece and three nephews.

She is survived by one son; Danny Lewis Shropshire of Celina, OK; three daughters, Tina Ansley and husband Jim of Perryton, TX; Christine Hughes; Laura Sanders and husband David of Amarillo, TX; one brother, Bobby Sirmans and wife Roberta of Lakeland, FL; two grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, four special nieces, Mary King, Patricia Blevins, Doreen Green and Vickie Morgan.
